Why Do I Need A Showreel?
A great question! The competition to be a tv presenter is fierce. There's an ever-increasing number of tv channels, production houses and film companies, but this doesn't mean that just anyone can be a television presenter. Producers, directors, artist agents and casting directors are all inundated every week with requests and CVs from would-be presenters.
So how do they decide who to call in, and who to reject? Simple - they look at the showreel! A good showreel is like a sales brochure, displaying your talent clearly and effectively.
And it needs to look good before they even put it into the DVD player, too. When you're sifting through a load of showreels the first thing you do is throw out the ones that look scruffy. Hand-written discs don't show you off to the best advantage, and the fact is it doesn't matter how good your footage is if it doesn't get seen!
